Dr. Magnifique Ndambe Nzaramba is the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Applied Research and Extension at the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA). He is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), and he is a member of the Board of Directors for Mulindi Factory Company owned by 5000 small-scale tea growers.

Dr. Nzaramba worked as the Coordinator of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation (HGBF) funded projects in the Ministry of Agriculture & Animal Resources of the Republic of Rwanda. He oversaw the design and installation of a modern solar-powered irrigation system in eastern Rwanda that improved food security for more than 2,000 small-scale farmers and provided a sustainable source of income.

Previously Dr. Nzaramba served as the Chief Operations Officer for the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) and prior to that he was the Deputy Director General in charge of Export Operations and Marketing in the same agency. During his tenure at NAEB, he oversaw innovative reforms including development of dynamic farmgate pricing models for coffee and tea green leaf for equitable sharing of revenue among farmers, processors, and exporters. He initiated and oversaw the creation of horticulture, coffee, and tea national brands to market and promote these products nationally and internationally. Dr. Nzaramba also served as the Director General of the Rwanda Horticulture Development Authority, and prior to that he worked as a Research Scientist in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University, College Station, USA. He also worked as a Research Scientist at Instutit des Sciences Agronomique du Rwanda (ISAR) before it transformed into RAB.

Dr. Nzaramba holds a PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics, an MSc degree in Horticulture both from Texas A&M University, College Station, USA, and a BSc degree in Agriculture from Makerere University, Kampala. He has experience in university teaching, research, extension, export promotion and marketing, institutional development and management, and cooperative management. He has published many peer-reviewed research papers and abstracts. He is passionate about improving food security and livelihood of small-scale farmers through capacity building and technology transfer.
